To all . Please note that poker night is now on a Tuesday and not Thursday. We have a good response to the poker nights. If you think you can play poker then get down to the british volunteer. The entry fee for the poker also includes a free drink and a meal.

MERRIST WOOD GOLF CLUB on FRIDAY 9TH JULY 2010

For a cost of only £55.00 the following is included:

Bacon Sandwiches Tea or Coffee

18 holes of golf - First tee-off at 9.12am

Competitions: Stableford, Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin and Nearest the Pin (2nd shot)

Followed by Lunch and Prizes.

The club is located just outside Guildford in tranquil countryside and is just 5 minutes from the A3, convenient for London, the M25 and south coast. Merrist Wood is a members based course but encourages visitors and groups. Over last few years we have entertained a range of golfing societies and corporate golfing events. Merrist Wood was chosen as the host venue to launch the Senior Professional Golf Tour in the UK. At nearly 7,000 yards the course is one of the longest in Surrey. When played from our championship tees it offers a real challenge to golfers of any standard. We are a soft spiked course and insist tailored trousers or shorts are worn while at the club.

As you may know, golf courses have traditional views on etiquette and behaviour- whilst we are relaxed and friendly at Merrist Wood we’d appreciate if you could take the time to familiarise yourself with our dress code, both on and off the course.

LVA Charity Race Night – 23rd March

The British Volunteer is hosting the evening as a member of the Licensed Vintners Association (LVA) to raise funds for our chosen charitys the most recent recipient being sam beare hospice. Kick off 7-30 big screen racing horses& pigs ! You can buy horses before the evening.

WEST SURREY GOLF CLUB – 26th March

This is a very good course as many of you know. The last time we played here was 25th February 2009 where we had 26 players.

Bacon sarnies, coffee etc., 18 holes, two course carvery, competitions and prizes.

Excellent value for money with all-in cost of £50.00 per person.

You will recall the content of my last email following the Burhill event for Christmas 2009. The winner scored 39 points. Those of you who played and finished with a score of 10 or more less than this will have their handicap adjusted by one shot. Obviously in your favour. Maybe this might encourage more winners ???!!! and please some of you !!

Please let me know asap regarding this first event. (By email/list in the Volly/Carrier pigeon etc…)

From last year’s golf days I intend to ensure good weather at all the forthcoming events.
